Spokeswoman affirms social stability and security in Vietnam

On Mar. 24, concerning the US State Department on Mar. 8th warning US citizens in Vietnam to pay particular attention for their own safety , Spokeswoman for Foreign Ministry of Vietnam Phan Thuy Thanh again reiterated that social stability and security in Vietnam has always been maintained. " Statement on Mar. 8 of US State Department has caused misleading perception on situation in Vietnam and its image. We can affirm that social stability and security in Vietnam has always been maintained. At present, a number of localities in the South have organized celebrations of the 25th anniversary of the liberation of the South and the reunification of the country. All that activities have been held in an absolute security. I believe that next celebratory activities including the celebrations on apr. 30 in big cities will go on very well." the Spokeswoman said.

Ha Noi, Mar. 10 "Social stability and security in Viet Nam have always been maintained," spokeswoman for the Foreign Ministry Phan Thuy Thanh said in Ha Noi on Mar. 10.

She made this statement in response to foreign correspondents' questions about a recent warning by the US State Department that US citizens present in Viet Nam should pay particular attention to their own safety during the celebration of the 25th anniversary of the end of the Viet Nam war as there may be sabotage schemes against the celebrations. Her statement is as following:

"Social stability and security in Viet Nam have always been maintained. Viet Nam celebrates major anniversaries in 2000. The Government and people of Viet Nam highly regard these anniversaries and have taken necessary measures to ensure successful celebrations. We are sure that any schemes to sabotage these celebrations will be foiled."

"At present, a number of localities in the country have begun celebrating the anniversary of the liberation of the South and the reunification of the country. These activities have been organized in a solemn atmosphere with security and order being ensured. Many foreigners have arrived in Viet Nam on this occasion and have taken part in celebratory activities,".
