Universities take lead role in Vietnam-U.S. relations

Vietnam Plans $82MLN for Postgraduate Education

Vietnam is expected to spend around VND1.3 trillion ($82 million) on a project to send excellent
students and state officials aboard to attend postgraduate training courses from now to the year 2010, announced a reliable source from the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET)

The project No. 322 is now in the second stage lasting from 2006 to 2014 of the national postgraduate training program

Accordingly, state capital allocated to this project is estimated at VND260 billion ($16.4 million) a year during the 2006-2010 period

Vietnam radio broadcasts first M'Nong ethnic language

Radio the Voice of Vietnam (VOV) launched its first broadcast in the M'Nong ethnic language on 19 August. The M'Nong-language broadcast, the eleventh service of the VOV for ethnic minority groups, will be aired six times a day at 6020KHz SW (short wave), AM and FM. The 30 minute-broadcast will discuss local social-economic development and provide cultural programmes for M'Nong ethnic people.

Connexions Prepares for Vietnam Launch

Vietnam is to deploy Connexions' web-based, open-source document creation and management system and content to improve education and research nationwide.

Rice University's Connexions today announced a memorandum of understanding with the Vietnam Education Foundation (VEF), Vietnam's Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) and the Vietnam Advanced Software Company (VASC).

In the agreement, the parties agreed to deploy Connexions in Vietnam and organize the first of a series Connexions training sessions next week in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
