New York, June 22 (VNA) - Viet Nam-US relations will definitely improved as a result of Prime Minister Phan Van Khai's visit to the US, said Prof. Dr. Ngo Thanh Nhan of New York University.

PM Khai Meets with U.S. Businesses

Prime Minister Phan Van Khai Wednesday has told U.S. business circles that he believes in a brighter future for Vietnam-U.S. cooperation.

The U.S. visit and talks with President George Bush will result in enhanced cooperation between the two countries, Mr. Khai said in a meeting with representatives of the U.S. business community in Washington.

He added that future cooperation between Vietnam and the U.S. would be conducted on the basis of equality, mutual respect and benefit.

Vietnam-US High-level Consultative Council Debuts

Vietnam on Tuesday announced the establishment of the Vietnam-US High-level Consultative Council to improve the country’s economic competitiveness.

The Council, including 12 Vietnamese and 10 US members, will provide objective and independent consultancy for Vietnam to help the country increase the competitiveness of its economy, according to the Government Office

US President plans to visit Vietnam

President Bush says he will be traveling to Vietnam next year, as that country hosts a summit of leaders from Pacific Rim nations, CBS News reported.
