Vietnam, US to continue labor cooperation

Vietnamese and US labor officials ended their fourth round of talks Friday in Washington with an agreement for continued cooperation.
It was inked by Standing Deputy Minister of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs Nguyen Luong Trao and Deputy Labor Secretary James Carter and follows a memorandum of understanding signed between the two sides in November 2000.

Trao briefed his hosts on Vietnam’s efforts to streamline labor laws and revise laws on vocational training, social insurance, and Vietnamese guest workers abroad.

It was also working towards ratification of several international conventions on labor, he said.

Trao also met with officials from other departments to discuss labor issues.
