Gov't activities to implement Vietnam-US BTA

On May 7, Foreign Ministry Spokeswomen Phan Thuy Thanh answered question from Bloomberg: What is Vietnam assessment of the implementation of Vietnam- US Trade Agreement?

Answer:

To effectively implement the Agreement, since the signing of the agreement, the Vietnamese Government has undertaken numerous activities including:

- Widely propagating the contents of the Agreement in the country, especially in business circle;

- Formulating a program to adjust legal documents to conform to international integration, including the Trade Agreement with the US;

- Introducing to Vietnamese enterprises US trade regulations, including those of various states;

- Proposing solutions to raise the competitiveness of goods, enterprises and Vietnam;

- Accelerating the process of training human resources to integrate into the world economy and implement the Agreement;

- The Vietnamese Government has approved an Action Program of the Government to implement Viet Nam-US Trade Agreement and assigned concerned ministries and industries with tasks to be fulfilled.

- Vietnamese enterprises themselves have been active in studying American markets and necessary regulations and they have contacted many American partners, especially in textile and leather footwear industries. Some enterprises have signed contracts with American partners in textile and civil aviation
