Vietnam coffee festival to feature trading on London market

The Central Highlands coffee festival will be held in Daklak - Vietnam’s coffee heartland - from Dec. 2 to 5, where companies can trade coffee on the London market.
Computers with Internet access will be ready at the festival to facilitate transactions on the London futures (terminal) market, said Daklak chairman Nguyen Van Lang at a press conference in HCMC Tuesday.

The province will officially unveil the Buon Ma Thuot coffee trademark at the festival, aimed to expand markets and attract investment into processing, said Mr. Lang.

Some 100 local and foreign companies will set up 300 stalls to feature coffee products, varieties and processing technologies.

Also high on the event’s agenda is a coffee seminar, he added.

A terminal market provides organized facilities for concluding contracts for the purchase and sale of a commodity to be delivered at specified future dates.

Futures markets have been developed primarily to enable persons involved in commodity trading to protect themselves from volatile price swings.
