Vietnamese and American Photographers Show Vietnam Images
A photography exhibition, “Vietnam: A Decade in Images”, celebrating the beauty and vitality of the country will be held in Ho Chi Minh City November 1-15.
The show, consisting of 60 black and white photographs taken between 1993 and 2004 by Nguyen Hoai Linh and Peter Steinhauer, is part of a series of cultural events held this year to commemorate 10 years of normalization of diplomatic relations between the US and Vietnam.
An opening reception will take place November 1 at the Ho Chi Minh City Fine Arts Museum.
The two friends’ photos depict a peaceful and beautiful Vietnam through magnificent landscapes, intimate portraits, ancient lifestyles, and contemporary urban culture.

Peter Steinhauer, an American from Colorado state, met Linh, a Hanoian, when he first arrived in the Vietnamese capital in 1993.
Their friendship has grown since, as they traveled and photographed the Vietnamese countryside together.
Hoai Linh graduated from the Social Sciences and Humanity University in Hanoi and is currently working for Vietnam Pictorial - Vietnam News Agency. Linh has won first prizes in numerous photo competitions in Vietnam since 1992, and his works have been exhibited in Canada and France.
Steinhauer’s work has been published in the books “Passage to Vietnam” and “America 24/7” as well as in numerous other publications including Time, Newsweek, Communication Arts, and Asian Art News.
