At Least 200 Companies to List on Vietnam Bourse by 2010

The total number of companies listed on the HCMC Securities Trading Center, Vietnam’s first stock exchange will be minimum 200 by 2010, according to a Finance Ministry projection.

With the growing value of the stock exchange every year, forecasts predict the total number of listed companies will reach 200 by 2010 with an average capital sale of VND205 billion each, heard a seminar on the topic in Hanoi July 18.

The list will include major banks and companies like Foreign Trade Bank of Vietnam (Vietcombank), Vietnam Dairy Product Co. (Vinamilk), Mekong Delta Housing Development Bank and Vietnam Construction & Import-Export Corp. (Vinaconex).

After five years in operation, the HCMC Securities Trading Center has seen the total value of the stock exchange double each year.

However, the capital scale of the current 29 listed stocks and equity funds at the HCMC center has risen by only 5% annually.

Meanwhile, there are six shares on the Hanoi Securities Trading Center – the first over-the-counter stock market in Vietnam.
