More state budget money for population program

* State Provides VND 435 Billion for Population Activities

The polupation programme will receive VND 435 billion (USD 30 million) from this year's State Budget.

The figure was announced at the National Committee for Population and Family Planning, NCPFP, conference in southern Ba Ria-Vung Tau province to launch the 2001-2010 population strategy; announce the 2001 plan and review the campaign for extending reproductive health and family planning services to remote areas.

The money will be used for improving the quality of information about population; reproductive health and family planning, raising management capacity, population research, combining population activities with sustainable family development and providing reproductive-health and family-planning services for remote areas.

Last year, the NCPFP together with localities and relevant agencies, launched a campaign to improve the quality of reproductive health and family planning services for remote areas. As a result, thousands of women in 3,500 of the country's 4,782 communes received help with family planning and the prevention of reproduction system inflamation. The campaign also helped in care for the reproductive health of women in flood-hit of An Giang, Dong Thap, Tien Giang, Lam Dong and Dong Nai provinces.
