Culture and information plans to 2005



Ha Noi, Feb. 9 (VNA) -- The Ministry of Culture and Information has made a plan to develop a traditional modern culture from now to 2005.

The sector plans to mobilise VND 5,000 billion (USD 357 million) from the State budget and between USD 2-3 million from non-refundable foreign aid and foreign direct investment.

Non-refundable foreign aid will be used to preserve historical sites, art and architectural works, art and ethnology museums, traditional craft villages, and train young musicians and dancers.

Meanwhile, foreign direct investement will go to cinematography and entertainment activities.

A Viet Nam Culture and Tourism Village will be built at an estimated investment capital of VND 8,000 billion (USD 571 million), a historical relic site in the southern province of Tay Ninh, VND 200 billion (USD 14.2 million); a film studio in Co Loa ancient citadel on the outskirts of Ha Noi, VND 150 billion (USD 10.7 million); cinematography technical centres in Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh City, VND 120 billion (USD 8.6 million); and a historical relic site in former Viet Bac resistance war base, VND 180 billion (USD 12.8 million).

A number of other projects in celebration of the millennial anniversary of Thang Long-Ha Noi will also be built.--VNA
