Vietnam Airlines opens new route to Laos and Cambodia

Oct. 29 (VNA) -- A ceremony to inaugurate a new air route from Ha Noi via Vientiane and Phnom Penh to Ho Chi Minh City was held at Wattay International Airport, Vientiane city, on Oct. 29 by Vientiane-based branch of the national flag carrier, Vietnam Airlines.

The first regular flight on the new route Ha Noi (Viet Nam)-Vientiane (Laos)-Phnome Penh (Cambodia)-Ho Chi Minh City (Viet Nam) and vice versa was implemented by Vietnam Airlines under an agreement on air transport cooperation
between Viet Nam, Laos, Cambodia and Myanmar. The agreement was signed by those countries' civil aviation general directors in Vientiane last March.

The new route aims to countribute to tourism development in Indochinese countries and reach the target of 4 million tourists to those countries by the end of this year. It will help promote economic and cultural relations among
sub-region Mekong countries.
