Rev. Pham Xuan Thieu-Head of Protestant Church - passed away


Pastor Pham Xuan Thieu, head of Vietnam's Protestant Church (VPC) (southern region), died of a heart attack at 8.30pm on June 24 at his home at 30 Ho Hao Hon street, District 1 of Ho Chi Minh City, at the age of 60.

This was jointly announced by the VPC, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee and his family on June 26.

Pastor Thieu was ordained as a pastor in 1974, one year after he returned to Vietnam from his post-graduate theological study at the Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary in Massachussetts, USA. Earlier, in 1969, the pastor studied in the Canadian Bible College in Canada.

Last year, at the first congress of Vietnam's Protestant Church, he was elected as head of the Church (southern region).

Memorial and funeral services for the deceased will be held at the Saigon protestant church on June 26 and 28, respectively. (VNA)
