FM Khiem meets US, Russian counterparts

(VNA) Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Gia Khiem held bilateral meetings with US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on the sidelines of ASEAN foreign ministers meetings with partners in Bali, Indonesia, on July 22.

FM Khiem and US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton expressed their pleasure with positive developments in Vietnam-US cooperation in various fields, including economics, trade, security, science and technology, education and humanitarian activities.

New York workshop promotes US investment in VN

 (VNA) A workshop themed, “Further promoting investment and trade in Vietnam ” took place on July 12 in the city of New York in the US .

The workshop was jointly organised by the US Chamber of Commerce and the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI).

New ambassador vows to lift VN-US ties to new height

Exports to US experience a boost

(VNA) Vietnam earned over 6.15 billion USD from exports of goods to the US in the first five months of the year, an increase of 22.5 percent over the same period last year.

In a freshly released report, the General Department of Vietnam Customs said that with this achievement, the US continued its role as Vietnam ’s largest market for exports, making up 17.7 percent of Vietnam ’s total export turnover.

The five-month export value also saw Vietnam surpass the Philippines and Indonesia on the list of ASEAN exporters to the US .

(VNA) A ministerial meeting of the Vietnam-US Trade and Investment Framework Agreement (TIFA) Council closed in Washington on May 23 with an agreement on access to each other’s market for several mutually-supplementary agricultural products.

Answering a Vietnam News Agency correspondent in the US, Minister of Industry and Trade (MoIT) Vu Huy Hoang, Vietnamese President of the TIFA Council, said this is an important initiative as the two sides’ agricultural products are not in competition with each other.
