Ambassador Nguyen Quoc Cuong visits Minnesota and Wisconsin

 

Apr 12-16 - Ambassador Nguyen Quoc Cuong visited the State of Minnesota and Wisconsin with stop in Twin Cities, La Crosse and Madison. 
In Minnesota, Ambassador Cuong met with Governor Mark Dayton, House Representative Erik Paulsen, members of St Paul Chambers of Commerce and also visited the headquarters of Cargill, 3M and Medtronics. In Wisconsin, he met with Secretary of Agriculture Ben Branton, Secretary of Revenue Richard Chandler, Secretary/CEO of Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation Paul F. Jadin, and the members of Wisconsin Manufacturing Chamber and Wisconsin Agriculture Board. Ambassador Cuong also visited the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse and University of Wisconsin - Madison.
Ambassador Nguyen Quoc Cuong and his counterparts discussed a range of issues, including current economic and social developments in Vietnam, the prospect on U.S. - Vietnam relations, cooperation in ASEAN and the Asia-Pacific region, including efforts to establish the Trans - Pacific Partnership as the 21 Century Free trade Agreement. He was greatly encouraged to learn that the business communities in Minnesota and Wisconsin have established a flourishing trade and investment relationship with partners in Vietnam. He extended the invitation to the state governments and encouraged the business communities to visit Vietnam in the near future. 
At UW-L and UW-M, home to many students from Vietnam, Ambassador Nguyen Quoc Cuong was also happy to learn that the Vietnamese students are doing well and having received great recognitions for their achievements in the two Universities of Wisconsin in La Crosse and Madison. One of such out-standing student was Hoang Vo, who received the Best Student Award in recognition of his achievement in both academy field and social activities. He also recognized the Vietnamese Student Association in UW-L and attended their 47th annual International Banquet. Ambassador Cuong also visited the Center of Southeast Asian Studies at UW-M, and was briefed on the Center's wide range of programs and research projects on Vietnam, including Vietnamese language, archeological research, exchange of scholars and professors.
