Photo Exhibition on Agent Orange effects in Vietnam on display

Ha Noi, Nov. 11 (VNA) -- Images of Vietnamese Agent Orange victims, taken 25 years after the American war which blighted their lives, are now on display in a European centre.

A photo exhibition of these long-suffering people is being held in the city of Luxembourg, co-sponsored by the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg's Ministry of Co-operation and Charitable Activities and Switzerland's Caritas Fund, in co-operation with the Luxembourg Red Cross.

Biggest Exhibition on Vietnam to be held in Europe



Ha Noi, Nov. 11 (VNA) -- The Museum of Ethnology and the Embassy of Austria are preparing for a comprehensive exhibition on Viet Nam to be held in some European countries in 2002.

Christian Schickgruber, who is in charge of the Southeast Asian and Himalaya region of the Austrian Museum of Ethnology, stressed that he and his colleagues in Austria wanted to introduce Viet Nam's comprehensive culture and its 4,000-year history to the European public, who now know about Viet Nam only through its wars.

Viet Nam's fisheries sector in 10 months of this year



Ha Noi, NOv. 8 (VNA) -- Viet Nam's fisheries sector caught more than 1.73 million tonnes of aquatic products in the past ten months of this year, a 13 percent year-on-year increase, according to the Ministry of Fisheries.

Of the figure, nearly 1.16 million tonnes were sea products, a year-on-year increase of 12 percent, and 570,000 tonnes were cultivated aquatic produce, meeting 80 percent of the yearly plan due to adverse weather conditions in the Mekong delta and central provinces.

Viet Nam's garment and textile plans to earn 1 billion USD


Ha Noi, Nov. 8 (VNA) -- Viet Nam's garment and textile industry plans to earn around USD 1 billion per year from exports to the United States in the first year after the Viet Nam-US trade agreement comes into effect.

The industry obtained an export turnover of USD 60 million from the export of garments and textiles to the US this year.

According to garments and textile exporters, the US market has a high demand for imported garments and textiles. However, Viet Nam has exported its products to the US market through sub-contracts.

Vietnam-China joint working group on demarcation of Tonkin Gulf


Ha Noi, Nov. 8 (VNA) -- Members of the Vietnamese-Chinese joint working group on the demarcation of the Bac Bo (Tonkin) Gulf have affirmed their determination to fulfil their task this year as agreed upon by top leaders of the two countries.

Both sides, during their 16th meeting in Beijing, China, from Oct. 30-Nov. 4, continued their discussions on the contents and technical aspect of the delineation, and agreed to exert more joint efforts to reach the goal.
