VN improving climate for US producers: PM

(VNA) Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung affirmed his Government’s pledge to continue to upgrade administrative procedures and infrastructure to facilitate long term business by US companies.
He made the statement at a reception for executives from the American Apparel Manufacturers Association (AAMA) and some major importers on the sidelines of the Nuclear Security Summit in Washington DC on the morning of April 12 local time.

US sees Vietnam as significant partner

(VNA) Vietnam is an important partner of the US in its relations with the region and with ASEAN, said US Vice Secretary of State Robert D. Hormats.
The statement came during talks on April 12 between the Vice Secretary of State and Deputy Prime Minister cum Foreign Minister Pham Gia Khiem in Hanoi .

During the function, both sides informed each other of the latest developments in bilateral relations between Vietnam and the US , agreeing that they are faring well in various areas, especially economics, trade and investment.

Seminar on Vietnam held in Washington

(VNA) A seminar entitled "Vietnam: Beyond the War" was held in Washington on March 24 by the International Francophonie Organisation, the Vietnamese embassy in the US and the Smithsonian Associates of the US.

It is one of the activities in the framework of the Francophonie Cultural Festival 2010, lasting from March 1 to April 11.

4th meeting of Asean Agriculture Attaches in Washington D.C

On February 24, 2010, the Embassy of Vietnam in Washington D.C hosted the 4th Meeting of ASEAN Agricultural Attachés (the AAA Meeting). The AAA Meeting is an informal gathering of agricultural, economic and trade officials from Washington-based ASEAN Embassies who meet on a regular basis, either quarterly or permitted by Embassies’ agenda, to share information on ASEAN member countries’ agro-trade relations with the United States and to discuss current and future issues pertaining to the relevant US government rules and policies.

US veterans praise Vietnam’s spirit of reconciliation

(VNA) US war veterans commended the Vietnamese people for their spirit of reconciliation and their support in the search for the remains of the US servicemen reported missing in action (MIA) during the Vietnam War.

The remarks were made during a recent press briefing held in Washington to report on a week-long visit to Vietnam from Jan. 11-17 of 29 members of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund (VVMF).

US ambassador for ASEAN affairs visits Vietnam

(VNA) The US’s Deputy Assistance Secretary for East Asia and Pacific-cum-Ambassador for ASEAN Affairs Scot Marciel paid a working visit to Vietnam from February 4-8.
During his stay in Vietnam, he was received by Minister-Head of the Governmental Office Nguyen Xuan Phuc and met with leaders of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Finance and Security to discuss the relations between Vietnam and the US as well as between, the US and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) regarding regional and international issues of mutual concern./.

Regarding remarks made by UK, US and EU toward recent trials in Vietnam

In response to question from the media concerning remarks made by representatives of the UK, the US and the EU toward the recent trials of Vietnamese law violators, Vietnamese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Nguyen Phuong Nga on January 22nd, 2010 said:
 
Vietnam is a country under the rule of law. Vietnam handles acts that violate the law and undermine the national security to protect the rule of law and safeguard the common society interests of peace, stability and development.
 

Vietnamese youth association set up in Washington, D.C

(VNA) An association to bring young Vietnamese people and students who are learning and working in Washington together has been set up to support them and help preserve Vietnamese culture.

On addressing the launching ceremony on January 10, the Vietnamese Ambassador to the US , Le Cong Phung, described the setting up of the association as an important event for the entire Vietnamese community in the US .

PM underlines top priorities for 2010

(VNA) On the threshold of the New Year 2010, PM Nguyen Tan Dung wrote an article recalling Vietnam’s lessons and experience of overcoming difficulties and challenges amid the global economic crisis. The PM also pointed out solutions to strengthen macro-economic stability and obtain a higher growth rate.

Diplomatic sector does well for national growth

(VNA)  The diplomatic sector in 2009 joined hands with the nation maintaining peace and stability, maximising national aggregated strength, and utilising all opportunities advancing the country towards development and international integration, said a senior government official.

In his review of the diplomatic sector’s performance in 2009, Deputy Prime Minister cum Foreign Minister Pham Gia Khiem emphasized that the sector contributed to heightening the country’s role, reinforcing its position, and promoting its strength in the international arena.
