The U.S postal service should comply with int'l law


Ha Noi, Aug. 21 (VNA) -- A group of Vietnamese exiles in the U.S. are not in a position to object to the printing of Viet Nam's national flag on the cover of a pamphlet published by the U.S. Postal Service, the national daily Nhan Dan (People) says in a commentary today, Aug. 21.

The paper points out that those people who have rejected the flag have counted themselves out of the Vietnamese community, because to the Vietnamese people, the Red and Golden Star Flag is a most sacred symbol.

Three more U.S Airlines to conduct flights to Vietnam


Three more U.S airlines, Delta, Northwest and United Airlines, will take part in code- sharing ventures with other airlines to conduct flights to Viet Nam. The airline Delta will sign a code-sharing contract with Air France and Northwest Airlines will sign a code-sharing contract with Malaysia Airlines and KLM of the Netherlands to conduct flights to Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh City. The third code-sharing contract will be signed between United Airlines, Thai Airways, and Germany's Lufthansa for flights to Ho Chi Minh City.(VNA)

Vietnam Ministry approves brand names for US fish exports


HANOI, Aug 8 Asia Pulse - The Ministry of Fisheries has approved brand names for the fish exported to the US.
The ministry also proclaimed that all tra and basa fish processors and exporters must compulsorily put these trade names on the packaging cartons,paper boxes and PE bags when exporting them to the US.

While the tra will be named basa catfish, Mekong catfish or Pangas catfish, the basa will have one of the following names: Basa, Bocourti and basa bocourti.

Code sharing between Vietnam Airlines and American Airlines


To cater for increasing demands of air travels, on 3 March 2000, in Hanoi, two governments concluded the Memorandum of Discussion (MOD) on Code-share flights cooperation between On the basis of this MOD Vietnam and the U.S. Vietnam Airlines and American Airlines conducted discussions and successfully concluded Codeshare Agreement on passenger services between Viet Nam and the U.S on July 19,2001.

Gov't to open wide legal corridor for stock market activities


Ha Noi, August 6 (VNA)-- The Finance Ministry is authorised by the Government to adjust the legal mechanism on the issuance of Government bonds to encourage more investment through Viet Nam's stock market.

Under the revised document, which is expected to come out soon, the right to issue bonds to raise funds for investment through the stock market will also be given to development funds as well as project executives and owners.

Visit to Vietnam of US Assistant Secretary L. Craner
