Vietnam, US seek to cooperate in agriculture

(VNA) Vietnam wishes to boost agricultural cooperation with the US , a country having great achievements in this field, said Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai.

Deputy PM Hai expressed his aspiration while receiving visiting US Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack in Hanoi on Nov. 16.

Vietnam-US relations to thrive

Secretary of State Clinton affirmed the US continues to attach importance and wants to further bolster multifaceted cooperation with Vietnam, including bringing the two countries’ relationship towards the strategic partnership.

Vietnam, US discuss boosting bilateral partnership

(VNA) Vietnamese Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh and US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on Sept. 26 discussed measures to beef up bilateral partnership between the two countries towards strategic partnership.
During the meeting, which took place on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly meeting in New York, the two foreign ministers exchanged views on the regional structure in Asia-Pacific. They also sought to strengthen cooperation in science and education.

VN, US hold second defence policy dialogue

(VNA)The second Vietnam-US defence policy dialogue took place in Washington on Sept. 19 under the co-chair of Vietnamese Deputy Defence Minister Lt. Gen. Nguyen Chi Vinh and US Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defence Robert Scher.

At the dialogue, the two sides expressed satisfaction at the outcomes of bilateral defence cooperation over the recent past.

Both Vinh and Scher agreed on the need to make the Vietnam-US defence cooperation more practical in the interest of each country and for peace, stability and cooperation in the region and the world.

Industry and Trade Minister on working trip to US

(VNA) Vietnamese Minister of Industry and Trade Vu Huy Hoang chaired over a conference on investment opportunities in Vietnam on September 15 in Washington.

At the conference, Minister Hoang highlighted Vietnam's policies and priorities to attract foreign investment in energy and finance areas. He also witnessed the signing of minutes of understanding on cooperation between PetroVietnam and McKinsey&Company.

Leading defence official meets US ambassador

(VNA) Deputy Defence Minister Nguyen Chi Vinh hosted a reception for US Ambassador David B.Shear in Hanoi on Sept. 15.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed cooperative contents in defence between the US and Vietnam before Vinh’s visit to the US .

The two sides affirmed that the results of bilateral defence cooperation between the two countries in the recent time were the foundation for future cooperation and looking towards the signing of a memorandum of understanding on bilateral defence cooperation to further strengthen cooperative ties.

Foreign Minister meets US business delegation

(VNA) Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh on Sept. 6 received a visiting delegation of the US-ASEAN Business Council (USABC) and representatives from its member.

The delegation was headed by USABC President Alexander Feldman and President of the council’s US-Vietnam Committee Stuart Dean, who were accompanied by representatives from nearly 40 large firms. This was the largest ever business delegation from the US to Vietnam.

The visit was aimed at studying the targets and priority policies of the new government in Vietnam.

VN-US trade exceeds 10 billion USD in first half

(VNA)Vietnam now ranks 29 th among 233 trade partners of the US with bilateral trade reaching more than 10 billion USD in the first half of the year, a year-on-year rise of 21 percent, according to the US International Trade Commission.

The Southeast Asian nation posted an export value of almost 7.94 billion USD and an import value of 2.07 billion USD in the first six months of the year, year-on-year increases of 21.4 percent and 25 percent, respectively.

Vietnam considers US as leading partner
