PM meets Vietnamese delegation to UN, Vietnamese businesses

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc visited the Vietnamese permanent representative delegation to the UN and met Vietnamese entrepreneurs and intellectuals on May 29 (local time), as part of his official visit to the US.

During the meeting, Ambassador Nguyen Phuong Nga, Head of Viet Nam’s Permanent Mission to the UN, reported the delegation’s performance since it was established in 1977 in conjunction with Viet Nam starting its UN membership.

The delegation has followed the UN agenda for sustainable development and completed Viet Nam’s duties as an active member of the UN, Nga said.

She added that the delegation also works to support Vietnamese expatriates in New York and boost trade and cultural exchange between Viet Nam and the US.

The PM said the work has contributed significantly to the implementation of Viet Nam’s foreign policy of multilateralization and diversification of foreign relations, and proactive and active integration into the world.

He urged the delegation to sustain its positive operation and further promote Viet Nam’s image to international friends.

The same day, the PM received Vietnamese entrepreneurs and intellectuals in the US, who expressed their good impression on Viet Nam’s global integration progress.

They said they want to contribute more to the development of Viet Nam and its relations with the US.

PM Phuc praised the expatriate community’s contributions to the host nation’s economy and to bilateral ties.

Stressing that to Viet Nam, they are an indispensable part and important human resources, he vowed to back their contributions to the home country.

The PM also had a meeting with Professor Ngo Thanh Nhan and his spouse, Merle Ratner, who have joined efforts to overcome war consequences in Viet Nam and assisted Vietnamese dioxin/Agent Orange victims’ fight for justice. -VNA
