On April 5th, in response to the statement by the Acting Deputy Spokesperson of the US Department of State on Cu Huy Ha Vu’s trial on April 4th, Vietnamese Foreign Ministry’s Spokeswoman Nguyen Phuong Nga said:

The statement is an intervention into Viet Nam’s internal affairs.

Viet Nam is a law-governed state. Viet Nam addresses law violations in accordance with Viet Nam’s legal regulations and in line with international laws, including the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.
In Viet Nam, citizens’ rights to democracy and freedom, including freedom of speech are unambiguously stipulated in the

Constitution and other legal documents, and respected and observed in practice. There is not a so-called “prisoner of conscience” in Viet Nam./
