Direct flight from Ho Chi Minh City to Tokyo since Nov. 1st 2000




Ha Noi, Nov. 2 (VNA) -- The national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines, in coordination with Japan Airlines, held a ceremony in the Japanese capital of Tokyo on Nov. 1 to inaugurate a direct flight from Ho Chi Minh City to Tokyo.

Under a code-sharing agreement between the two airlines, both airlines will operate non-stop flights at maximum capacity for the new route and they will conduct four flights a week.

Moreover, Vietnam Airlines has increased its return flights from Ho Chi Minh City to Osaka to six times a week to meet growing demand in the two countries.

The number of passengers on these routes is expected to increase to 250,000 per year in the next five years.

Vietnam Airlines is conducting direct flights to 25 destinations worldwide, and 17 airlines from other countries and territories are operating regular flights to Viet Nam. In addition, about 60 airlines from more than 40 countries and territories have conducted transit flights through the country.
