Vietnam's Top Banks Kick off New Net Services

Vietnam's three leading commercial banks said beginning on August 15 they will offer a series of e-banking services in a bid to attract more customers.

The East Asian Bank (EAB) said starting today it would provide internet banking services at http://ebanking.eab.com.vn, enabling customers to access account balance and transaction information.

In the near future, the services would include online transactions and utilities payments, the bank said.

Meanwhile, the Vietnam Import and Export Commercial Joint Stock Bank (Eximbank) is offering SMS-Banking, which allows customers access to Eximbank's banking-related information by sending a SMS (Short Message Service) request from a mobile phone to the telephone number 997.

The Asia Commercial Bank (ACB) is launching its Call Center 247 service, which provides telephone access to ACB banking-related information at 1-800-577-775.

Through the Call Center 247, customers may also request a number of services, including electricity, water, telephone, internet and cable TV payments and money transfers.

Three other banks in Vietnam have applied such services, including the Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam, the Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam and the Phuong Nam Bank.
